My Own Personal Alien is a somewhat playful 5th series that comes from a pentalogy built from the primary portfolio Desert Pieces. The word alien carries a number of connotation that could be synonymous with qualities of slab city and those who occupy it. To name a view, the desert retreat [in a complementary way] has been identified as odd, strange, remote, bizarre , outlandish, transplanted and non-indigenous. The objective for this series of photographs was to find objects amidst the layers of trash scattered on the desert floor that resembled ‘other worldly’ qualities and characteristics; extraterrestrial to be exact. Much like the series Long Play where, weathered records were used as masks, the same idea was applied to . . . Personal Aliens.
